Another Transformation From Trash To Treasure

This armchair from the late 1800’s had a ruined seat back and seat cushion. The weaved cane wicker was crumbling and torn in those areas. But one person’s trash is another person’s treasure – if you’ve got a few skills.

Because there is no way I can re-weave that material into anything that looks restored, I removed it, cut mahogany stained frames, padded and upholstered them to something a bit different and cushier than how it began life.

Now, it’s a styling, bourbon sipping and book reading armchair for a dark and stormy night in front of a fire that you will never find in any store. It’s hand carved hard wood from a different era.

The perfect seat to read by the fireplace this winter.
