Furniture Designs

i designed and built my work bench in the Corona bunker from scraps left over from my Moroccan lounge build.

It was designed to be heavy duty. You can hammer on it, set a motorcycle engine on it, or anything you would need to do without having to do it on the garage floor.

I’ve got roller bearing drawers for tools and pigeon holes for supplies and other tools that could get lost in the drawers.

It also serves as my drafting table and sometimes, my writing spot. In fact, it has become my morning coffee spot and shortwave radio station.

I designed and built my mini-bar for the lounge on computer after sketching it. Liquor bottles on the left, wine bottles on the right, glasses and bar utensils in the big drawer.

The side panels are upholstered with the same material as the lounge seating and my antique arm chair. The metal pipe rails keep glasses from falling, if the bar tender gets tipsy. It seemed cool at the time to add them.

I designed and built my night stand right after building my bed.

Like the mini-bar, it has internal lighting. An LED bulb back lights the caged door below and light also reflects upward and diffuses against the white painted underside of the table top to illuminate the drawer contents in soft light.

I built the coffee hutch/tea apothecary from scrap wood from prior projects. It has two doors for large items on shelves and six drawers for various teas with a three-tier spice rack in the middle.

It gets a lot more use every morning than I ever expected. Behind the doors, I’ve got coffee beans and my prescription drugs, loose tea, honey and a few dog treats.

My Moroccan lounge is made up of three major components, three sofas, which bolt together.

I designed and built this on computer to get all the details right first. House power comes in at the center and is distributed to all three sections to power the foot lights as well as the 115VAC outlets where you can plug in a vacuum or recharge a phone.

The seat cushions interlock to hold them all firmly in place. The frame work is rock solid so they never creak or move.

The three sections bolt together with four large carriage bolts and the 115VAC electric lines have couplers so they may be disconnected for moving out of the house. And the couches are 32 inches wide so they can be carried through a standard 36 inch doorway.

The seat backs are padded with memory foam and permanently upholstered in a Moroccan fabric.

The seating is covered with another tough fabric that is laced on with Paracord so it can be laundered in a washing machine if food or drink are ever spilled on them.

All of my furniture designs and builds follow a design theme in their construction and fabrics to bring them together in the house. Even the antiques that I’ve restored, to give it seamless style.

I’m not your typical designer. I write, produce and direct, as well as come up with innovative firearm designs in the high desert, a long way from the city streets in NYC where I went to art school and was raised by a fine artist in several disciplines.
