Firewood And A Good Bourbon

When the weather turns cold on a winter day, there’s nothing as relaxing as sitting in front of a warm fire, sipping on a good bourbon with a good dog for company.

The weather said to expect rain storms today but it’s going down below freezing tonight. That means the possibility of snow. I’m ready. On cold days like these, it’s always fun to read through an intriguing short story.

Today, it’s H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror.” It’s about strange, maybe inbred people lurking in a decrepit, New England town in the 1920s. That’s going to be an intriguing read, even if it seems tame for anyone who has ever gone shopping at Walmart after midnight.

I’m going with my go-to bourbon, the Bulleit. It’s excellent for sipping and savoring. That’s a must if your limit is one or two shots. It’s not something to fire down, just to get it past your taste buds. That’s waiting for me, after dinner tonight.

Until then, I’m taking off the chill with English Tea, Number 1, from Ahmad’s Arabic imports.

After my tea, I’m going out to stack some firewood from my firewood pile out back to the side of my fireplace.
